Power (electrical) grids are perhaps the most critical infrastructure for modern civilization. Those grids are considered by many to be the biggest and most complex machines in the world. With the increased penetration of intermittent renewable energy sources, such as wind and solar, the grid becomes substantially harder to predict. Predicting power generation and demand is paramount for ensuring reliable delivery of power. Furthermore, unpredictability leads to higher risk and consequently higher prices.
